Aims of Fund

To:

  • reach people in great need
  • meet people's needs and ambitions, and promote their rights
  • help people to live with dignity and free from fear
  • tackle some of the root causes of poverty and injustice
  • bring about lasting improvements in the lives of poor and disadvantaged people

Who can apply

Voluntary and community sector throughout the UK including: constituted voluntary and community groups, charities, social enterprises, co-operatives, faith organisations, and community interest companies.

How much and what can you apply for

Specialist programmes

There are no limits for these programmes but grants tend to start at £1,000.

  • Mental health
  • Domestic and sexual abuse: young people
  • Refugee and asylum seeking women
  • Sport for Change
  • Older people
  • Sexually exploited and trafficked young people
  • Young people and alcohol
  • Young people with mental health problems
  • Local communities

Deadlines for application

Next funding round opens on 8 April 2011. The deadline is 1 July 2011.

The Sport for Change & Older people programmes are in 2 stages - the deadline for submitting the expression of interest was 10 June 2011. Plese contact Comic Relief for information about the next round of funding.
