Community Grants (European Social Fund)

Aims of Fund

To support the most disadvantaged individuals to access further learning opportunities or progress to employment.

Who can apply

Applications can be made by a charity (not necessarily registered), community group or a not-for-profit organisation based in South East England.

Priority will be given to organisations that have been in receipt of less than a £300,000 income over their last three financial years.

How much and what can you apply for

You can apply for anything between £1000 and £12,000.

Projects supported by ESF Community Grants should focus on hardest to reach communities and unemployed/economically inactive individuals who have difficulty in accessing mainstream provision.

Priority will be given to: lone parents; women; people with health/disability issues; older people (50 yrs plus); people from ethnic minorities and diverse communities.

The programme will support a range of activities that may include:

  • Initial help with basic skills.
  • Taster work experience including voluntary work.
  • Training advice and guidance.
  • Job search assistance.
  • Confidence building and personal development.
  • First contact engagement activities, e.g. to provide support to individuals overcome barriers to learning and/or employment
