Aims of Fund

To support community groups in East Brighton.

Who can apply

Not for profit organisations, such as community groups and charities in the areas listed below, for the benefit/well-being of residents living in those areas.

  • Higher Bevendean
  • Manor Farm
  • Moulsecoomb
  • Saunders Park
  • Whitehawk

How much and what can you apply for

You can apply for £50 to £300 for any event or activity that will benefit East Brighton residents.

Only one grant per group/organisation can be awarded in any one financial year (1st April to 31st March). The event/project must take place within 12 months of receiving the grant.

Examples of grants awarded in 2010

  • Friends of Wild Park commissioned the 4 Seasons Art Group to make benches to sit on by the memorial at entrance to Wild Park.
  • Moulsecoomb Toddlers Group money paid for music and movement sessions and outings.
  • Community Association of Higher Bevendean and Moulsecoomb South  received money towards advertising and leaflets to attract more members plus a social event.
  • Metamorphosis Art Group paid for a learning experience trip to observe artworks.
  • PAGE set-up a cookery group for parents and children at Moulsecoomb Primary School.
  • Moulsecoomb Primary School as a contribution towards a Heritage and Environment Festival at the school.
  • Parents, Friends & Staff of Whitehawk Primary paid towards a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the school.
  • Concordia International  towards a volunteering weekend at the Green Centre.
  • Gladrags  paid for their community costumes and skills to be available at a number of workshops/celebrations/festivals in the East Brighton Trust area.
  • Viva Arts  received money to run children's art classes at Moulsecoomb Primary School.
  • East Brighton Community Football Club received cash to hold an Open Day to publicise the football club.
  • Sussex Army Cadet Forces money went towards helping them purchase a projector and screen to teach cadets.
  • Bangladeshi Women’s Group for hall hire and English lessons.
  • Bristol Estate Baby and Toddler Group for toys and group outings.
