Aims of Fund
To support work that has a recognisable charitable purpose.
Who can apply
Any registered charity, with a focus on small local or regional charities where users and volunteers are significantly involved.
How much and what can you apply for
Examples of past grants and for what use if available
They will consider revenue support to a maximum of 5 years, although 3 year support will be more common. They monitor the effectiveness of all grants but those made over a number of years will involve more detailed evaluation and further visits from staff.
For 2009 - 2014 the priorities are:
- Arts …promoting excellence and exploring the power of the arts (£10,000 - £15,000 a year for up to three years)
- Breaking Cycles of Abuse …promoting safe and protective behaviours (Up to £45,000 for up to 3 years)
- Custody and Community …promoting alternatives (£10,000 - £15,000 per year for up to 3 years)
- Free and Quiet Minds …seeking to restore troubled minds and lives (£10,000 - £15,000 per year for up to 3 years)
- Local People, Local Places …strengthening local communities and organisations (Revenue and capital grants of up to £50,000)
They also have a fund for summer playschemes. You can apply for £500 and the deadline for this is usually mid May.

Deadlines for application
The Trustees meet every 2 months. Applications may be submitted at any time but you should be aware that agendas are planned well ahead and you should expect a period of 6 months between an initial application and formal consideration by the Trustees. If your application is being seriously considered a representative of the Trust will arrange to visit you.
Other details
Do not make grants to replace funds that have been withdrawn from statutory sources, or consider applications to replace time expired grants from Lottery funding.
