Aims of Fund
To alleviate conditions of distress, deprivation and disadvantage that lead to social exclusion.
Who can apply
Charities and not-for-profit social enterprises with an annual income below £700,000 in the following areas: Berkshire; Bristol, Avon & Somerset; Buckinghamshire; Dorset; Gloucestershire; Middlesex; Nottinghamshire; Oxfordshire; Surrey; Sussex and the Greater London Metropolitan Area as defined by the M25 motorway.
How much and what can you apply for
You can apply for the costs of a specific project or core costs such as rent and non-project specific salaries. You can also apply for infrastructure development and capacity building such as staff or management training.
You can apply for one off costs of up to £15,000 or funding of up to £30,000 over 3 years. There are five different programmes:
Building Family Values
- Promoting the family unit
- Domestic abuse
- Supporting children and young people at risk
- Opportunities for children and young people 5-25 years of age
Community Health
- Addiction
- Mental Health and Disabilities – the disabled
- Aged and Infirm
- Alternative and complementary practice
Life Transitions
- Preparing client groups for key transitions to facilitate informed and accessible changes in life circumstances
- Addressing failure to deal adequately with key transitions, leading to negative outcomes in the short term and potentially in later life
- Promoting personal resilience, allowing beneficiaries to access life opportunities better, having achieved a key transition successfully
Safer Communities
- Crime in Communities
- Alternatives to custody
- Preparing offenders for release
- Resettlement of offenders after release
- Female offenders
How to apply
There is a two stage application process that can take several months. You need to send in a letter (by post, not email) following the guidelines on the website. Following this you may be inviting to submit a full application that will be considered by the committee.
There are no deadlines, but the committees meet around June, October and February in the year.
