Rainbow Fund for the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Community
The Rainbow Fund aims to support community groups and voluntary organisations which address the needs of the LGBT community in Brighton & Hove, including smaller organisations that have problems raising funds from other sources. The fund will particularly welcome applications which demonstrate that either the project or the organisation is led by LGBT people. The Rainbow Fund will raise funds from the LGBT Community throughout the year, so the value of each year’s grant fund will depend on the success of these fundraising events.
It is expected that most grants will be up to £5,000 but larger grants may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
The Rainbow Fund will also contribute to the maintenance of the Brighton & Hove AIDS Memorial.

Hidden Histories fund for the South East
The Heritage Lottery Fund is keen to support projects focusing on stories that have been lost forgotten or untold, and as such, ‘Hidden Histories’ is a priority theme for the South East England team.Hidden Histories’ themes could include:
• settlers in the south east
• forgotten heroes
• overcoming prejudice
• local traditions
• vanishing environments
• disappearing communities
• lost, forgotten, untold stories
• village secrets
• threatened species
• languages and dialects
• cultural traditions and customs
They are particularly encouraging applications for grants between £3,000 and £10,000.
In particular, we would like to receive applications from first-time applicants and community groups. We are therefore encouraging groups to apply for grants between £3,000 and £10,000, with the expectation that applications will contain less detail than is required for larger grants.
They will fund heritage projects which result in celebratory events, performances and exhibitions, but these should be the culmination of a project in which participants have had an opportunity to learn about and enjoy the heritage. A project which is only concerned with organising a one-off celebratory event, performance or exhibition is unlikely to meet their priorities.

The funding will be given on a ‘first come-first served’ basis to groups operating within Brighton & Hove.
