Workshop delivered by:
This workshop is delivered by Enterprise Exchange, itself a social enterprise offering regular courses for people becoming self employed or starting social enterprises.

Social enterprises are a fantastic way to help the community. Many social enterprises are set up to provide services that might not otherwise exist. For example, by providing training helping the unemployed back into work. When a social enterprise profits, society profits.

Personal Choice Plus funding for local Sussex projects DEADLINE 10th May

Yesterday, the South East Well-being Consortium launched it's 'Micro Project' opportunity for community and voluntary groups in the South East. Click here to see a series of short videos of what was said: http://sewc.wordpress.com/personal-choice-plus-project-introduction/

Personal Choice Plus aims to support the voluntary sector to 'try out' different projects that promote personalisation locally.

They are launching a small funding opportunity to local voluntary groups, to allow them to develop their work in this area, which will strengthen the reach of the Personal Choice Plus project.

They are looking to fund up to 6 projects a total of £500 each.

Examples of the type of projects they are looking for:

-research into the uptake of direct payments by a minority ethnic group
-start up funding to help start a class or group with the view of it becoming self sustaining
-a group of direct payment users wanting to establish their own services using their direct payments
-a pilot project to identify interest in an activity and gather evidence to obtain further funding

Given the small amount of funding on offer, they expect groups to consider and evidence the sustainability of the projects that they are applying for.

Existing projects welcome, if they can demonstrate how the additional funding will enable them to promote personalisation.

Projects are expected to be completed by the end of December 2013, though the length of the project is expected to depend on the type of project.

Projects need to be based within Sussex, including East/West Sussex and Brighton/Hove.

Please request a copy of the application form and guidance via katie.love@thefedonline.org.uk or call 0776961201.

Please complete the application form and return by 10th May 2013, 5pm

Successful applicants will be informed by 24th May 2013.

Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest fund for West Sussex groups

Groups can apply for grants of between £300 and £3,000 for projects that benefit their local community. This year there is a total funding pot of £20,000 for Dorset and £15,000 for West Sussex.

Hall & Woodhouse set up the Community Chest in 2002 to provide local help for local communities in and around Dorset. The money for the grants comes from Hall & Woodhouse pubs in the Dorset or West Sussex area.

The aim of the Community Chest is to:

  • Work together towards improving both facilities and the lives of residents in the community.
  • Promote, encourage and support community involvement.
  • Offer access funds to local voluntary groups with clearly identified needs.
Voluntary and community groups can apply for funding to help with local projects that address issues such as conservation and the environment, health and social care, local arts, youth work, help for the elderly or disabled, and animal care.

Grants can be used to buy equipment and furniture or for training and transport or for professional assistance or specific project resources.

The deadline for West Sussex applications is 10 May 2013.

Decisions will be announced to all applicants by August 2013, and cheques will be presented to the successful organisations at an awards evening in September 2013.
