Aims of Fund
To make a meaningful difference to small local charitable organisations in Brighton and Hove
Who can apply
They make grants to three types of organisation:
Community Grants are made to charities and other not-for-profit organisations in Brighton and Hove, and particularly to those supporting disadvantaged children, young people and women.
School Grants are made to the city’s Church of England schools and principally to those that have a connection to the Trust’s founder, Fr Arthur Wagner, and which seek funding for Religious Education activity, books or other resources.
Church Grants are made to Church of England parishes within Brighton and Hove, and particularly those connected with Fr Wagner, to advance their religious and other charitable or community works.
How much and what can you apply for
Community Grants tend to be in the range of £500 to £3,500 and very exceptionally, up to £5,000.
They aim to make grants to organisations which improve lives, enhance opportunities and address disadvantage and inequality so that individuals are better placed to reach their full potential. To this end, they fund charities tackling issues such as disability, poor mental or physical health, isolation, homelessness, poverty and financial hardship, addiction / substance abuse and domestic or gender violence.
School Grants tend to be in the range of £500 to £3,000, for Religious Education activity, books or other resources.
Church Grants tend to be in the range of £100 to £500, to advance their religious and other charitable or community works. In some cases, small grant sums may be donated which are passed on by clergy and church leaders to needy parishioners known to them.
Whilst the trustees prefer to provide grants for specific items, resources or projects, they will consider making grants towards running costs if a compelling case is made for doing so.
They offer multi-year grants for up to four years, but once a funding period has ended (or a funding request has been declined) you need to wait 12 months before applying again.
See their website for further guidance, including a list of things they do not fund.
