Have a rethink

You have indicated that paid staff will be in charge of your organisation, but that you do not wish to incorporate.

It will be hard to be recognised as a not-for-profit organisation, as you will not be regulated by any outside body. This means that there is no guarantee to the outside world that the paid staff are not making additional personal profit from the organisation.

You could reconsider whether to incorporate and become a Community Interest Company (CIC). CICs are incorporated organisations that have an “asset lock” which guarantees that they will invest all their surplus income back into the community. This illustrates to the wider world that they are not-for-profit.

Your route so far:

Voting members? Yes. Charitable? No. Incorporated? No. Paid staff in charge? Yes.

All Resource Centre information is available for free because we know small community groups have small budgets. However, we are a small charity, so if you are in a position to make a donation, it will help us to keep running this service into the future.
