Brighton & Hove Communities Fund: BME Engagement Fund

Grants available for: Community and voluntary groups in Brighton & Hove that are BME led and/or have a predominantly BME membership, with annual income under £20,000
Size of grants given: Up to £2,000 (out of a total fund of £15,000)

Aims of Fund

Applications are open to BME groups that aim to improve wellbeing, build cohesion or promote fairness.

Who can apply

Not-for-profit organisations based in Brighton & Hove, run by and/or for BME people, with an annual income of under £20,000. The BME Engagement Fund supports groups to engage and empower local people, communities or neighbourhoods in the city.

If your group is already working with local communitites, or you are a larger organisation with an annual income of up to £100,000, you can apply to the Council’s Resilience Fund instead.

How much and what can you apply for

Up to £2,000 for the costs of running activities (project costs) or the general costs of keeping your organisation going (core costs). Grants can cover activities and project costs from February to May 2024.

Your activities must contribute to at least one of the following outcomes:

  • improving wellbeing
  • building cohesion
  • promoting fairness

Applications must be made via the council’s Community Fund online form. You can preview the questions on the Council’s website.
