Grants available for: to support community projects that protect and enhance the social and environmental well-being of the community, particularly those affected by operations at Gatwick Airport.
Size of grants given: Most grants £500-£5000.
Next round expected to open January 2017 with a deadline in March 2017.

Aims of Fund

To support community projects that protect and enhance the social and environmental well-being of the community. Priority categories are:

  • Development of young people
  • Art projects including amateur drama, music, art
  • Sporting facilities
  • Environmental improvement and conservation
  • Improvements to community facilities such as village halls
  • Support for the disabled
  • Support for the elderly
  • Encouragement of additional volunteering or giving in the area

How much and what can you apply for

Most grants are for £500 – £5,000.

In 2015, 141 grants were awarded, totaling £188,347. The grant amounts ranged from £250 to £10,000, but all but one grant was less for £3,000 or less, and the most commonly awarded grants were for £500 or £1,000.

An application form can be downloaded from their website. You must print this out and post it. They don’t accept applications by email.

Deadlines for application

Applications are usually invited in January with a deadline date in March. Grants are paid by the end of May.
